Carbon Fever

Carbon Fever is exactly what the name suggests - carbon fibre, and lots of it. Of course, that doesn't mean that derbaum is without his tricks. After creating a sketch that could best be described as "Alienware meets the retro 1920s", he began work on the actual mod.
The outside of the mod is composed of carbon fibre and wood, which derbaum has shaped himself by creating Styrofoam and Bondo moulds.
As you can see from his sketches, derbaum has put a
lot of work into planning this mod. And, from the looks of the carbon fibre, it will pay off in the end.
Derbaum has added a lot of little extras into
Carbon Fever including things like a lighted PCI bracket (shown here). These little touches of class will do a lot to add a truly unique and detailed feel into the finished product.
One of the goals derbaum set out for this mod was to not have to bend over a lot to fiddle with the completed case. He calls this the "remote control" in his log - a hand-made fanbus and light bus that's meant to sit separately on his desk. What else will be added? We'll just have to wait and see.
Here you can see the steel frame of the case after being painted gloss white. The black strips down the sides on the second picture are foam insulation for noise proofing. The sheer amount of work that went into just the carbon fibre panels (many of which aren't pictured here) is simply amazing. Great work, derbaum, we'll be keeping an eye
on your worklog!
